What is LIS’N?

Local Interpreter Services Network (LIS’N) program is a service of Grand Traverse Industries. The LIS’N program coordinates credentialed and State of Michigan registered interpreters for northern Michigan and much of Michigan’s upper peninsula. These interpreting services are in-person and include the following:

  • Community services (social security, employment, events, performances etc.)

  • Medical

  • Mental Health

  • Educational (substitute services)

  • Legal

  • Deaf-Blind

In addition to interpreting services, the LIS’N program provides advocacy as well as information and referral assistance to community partners as well as to our Deaf, Deaf-Blind & Hard of Hearing community. The LIS’N program works in collaboration with long time partners, Disability Network or Northern Michigan and Michigan Rehabilitation Services (Northern Michigan District).
